Join the Refugees United Team
Refugees United is a tech non-profit with the mission to reconnect separated families across the globe.
With 45 million displaced people in the world, there is a pressing need to reconnect the thousands of people that every day lose contact with their family and friends. Historically, many of these never find their missing loved ones, in part due to a lack of access to effective communication tools and databases. Refugees United has developed an online and mobile platform that empowers people in every part of the world to start the search for missing family - whether they have access to a smart phone or computer or whether they only have a simple mobile phone with no internet access.
Refugees United consists of small team in Copenhagen (HQ) and a growing team in Nairobi, Kenya (primary hub for all East African activities). We’re a fast moving group of techies, designers, project managers and writers. We have a lot of fun, despite the serious nature of our work, and strive to end the problem of refugee families not being able to find each other within 5 years. As a non-profit organization the wages are not market leading, but will be negotiated based on individual skills and experiences.

Developers for Refugees United’s Nairobi office
We are always on the look-out for skilled coders and techies to join our team!
Refugees United builds technology to help separated refugee families reconnect. The world holds more than 43 million displaced people and Refugees United is currently helping more than 200,000 people in finding their children, siblings and parents again. Working with our partners in distributed teams, we collect family data through WAP, USSD, SMS and the web. Our teams are present in refugee camps and urban areas of East and North Africa, and often comprise refugees themselves. We work in challenging environments with challenging data, striving to crack a code of information dissemination to help families reunite faster.
We focus on a big problem that we believe big data can help solve. We’re not in it for the status quo. We help change the lives of some of the most resource deprived people on our planet. We try to have fun, even when it’s tough.
If this start-up dynamic, combined with a mission to empower refugees, sounds like your ideal place to thrive, get in touch.
